Cadbury Recalls Easter Eggs
Cadbury is recalling thousand of chocolate Easter Eggs products that don’t carry the appropriate nut allergy labelling.
Cadbury has already contacted retail stores to warn about affected products that include mini crème eggs, chocolate buttons Easter chicks and a range of Easter eggs.
Although none of these products actually contain nuts, they travel along production lines with products that do.
Allergies to peanuts, hazelnuts and walnuts are among the most common nut allergies. For those who suffer, even the smallest trace of nut could trigger a fatal reaction.
Products whose ingredients may have been transported with nuts or made in the same factory as nut containing products can also pose a threat.
Tony Bilsborough from Cadbury told BBC news that some of the products may have not yet reached the stores. "They were particular batches of chocolate made on a line that also makes products with nuts in them, therefore there is a small risk and we felt it was at least important that we let nut allergy sufferers know about it because you cannot be too careful."
If you are worried you can check the Cadbury website for more information.
This is a further blow to Cadbury’s, following the Salmonella scare last year. An internal investigation into the labelling error is currently being conducted.
