BV is treated with antibiotics, which must be prescribed by your doctor. Your doctor may give you one of two antibiotics to treat the problem:

· Metronidazole

· Clindamycin.

By in large, male sex partners of women with BV do not need to be treated although it is always wise for them to also consult a doctor to check. Treatment does not mean that this is the last time you will get BV, it can return even after being treated.
