Chance
" The chance to have a teenager's life."
My daughter was always the little prankster. She loved being active, running around, playing games, and most of all riding her bicycle. When she was 7 years old, like all children sometimes do, she fall of her bike. I remember that when she got home, I did not think much of it. Unfortunately, we found out the she needed arthroscopy in order to get her knee better.
Few years down the road, my daughter's knee began to bother her more often. Repeated pain and an occasional swelling was a common thing. After a short examination, another surgery was performed and she is proscribed with anti-inflammatory medication on a regular basis. It is impossible to describe how constraining it is for a 13 year old to have such bad knee problems, and I as her mother was just helpless. Although my daughter never mentioned it, I am certain she had wished for a better condition, one that would not hold her back and let her act like people her age should.
It wasn't after few years of repeated pains that we decided to send her medical record for a Second Opinion. The medical files were sent as well as her MRI and few X-rays from several years. What can I say; I just wanted my daughter's happiness.
The files got back after few days, I was amazed. The specialist who reviewed her case was able to pin point a specific diagnostic her doctors failed to see throughout the years. The American doctor recommended a different physical therapy with specific details on what to do. The treatment was amazingly effective to the point where it enabled reducing the anti-inflammatory medicine she was on.
The suggestion received by the Second Opinion specialist made all the difference. My daughter was improving tremendously with the new physical therapy and was enjoying a teenager's life, like she should be doing.
